        "content": "<p>The Kuantan Singingi Police, through the Cerenti Police Sector, have\nonce again taken action against illegal gold mining activities along the\nKuantan River. A total of 12 dompeng rafts were destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>The operation was carried out by a joint team from the Cerenti\nPolice, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, and the sub-district\ngovernment along the Kuantan River in Koto Cerenti Village and Kampung\nBaru Village, Cerenti District, on Thursday (2\/7\/2026). The crackdown\nfollowed police receipt of public complaints about ongoing illegal\nmining activities, which are considered to have damaged the environment\nand disrupted the Kuantan River ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>Cerenti Police Chief Iptu Peri Padli led the operation alongside\nseveral joint personnel. Upon arriving at the riverbank, officers\ndiscovered two dompeng rafts in operation in the Koto Cerenti Village\narea. \u201cAll the rafts were immediately destroyed by being dismantled and\nburned so they cannot be used again,\u201d said Iptu Perdi in a\nstatement.<\/p>\n<p>The operation continued to the Kampung Baru Village area. At the\nsecond location, officers found 10 more illegal dompeng rafts. All the\nrafts at this location were also destroyed on the spot. In total, 12\nillegal mining rafts were destroyed in a single day. Officers did not\nfind any perpetrators at the scene; they are believed to have fled\nbefore the authorities arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Kuantan Singingi Police Chief AKBP Hidayat Perdana stressed that the\nenforcement action was a follow-up to public reports and a demonstration\nof the police\u2019s commitment to preserving the environment. \u201cWe follow up\non every public report regarding illegal mining activities. Illegal\nmining not only violates the law but also causes environmental damage,\nriver pollution, and threatens public safety. Therefore, we will\ncontinue to carry out these enforcement actions sustainably,\u201d said\nHidayat.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged the public to refrain from engaging in illegal mining\nand to work together to protect the Kuantan River as a source of life\nfor the community. \u201cWe invite all elements of society to protect the\nenvironment and not be tempted to conduct illegal mining.
