        "content": "<p>The Indonesian National Police has deployed SAR personnel from the\nAnimal Police Directorate of the Sabhara Corps, Baharkam Polri, along\nwith K-9 dogs to assist in the search for victims affected by the\nearthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpecifically for SAR competence from the Animal Police Directorate,\nwe are dispatching 21 personnel along with 10 K-9 dogs that have the\ncompetence to conduct victim searches,\u201d said Head of the Public\nInformation Bureau of the Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier\nGeneral Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, in a statement received in Jakarta on\nSunday.<\/p>\n<p>Trunoyudo said the team also brought supporting equipment for victim\nsearches as well as logistical aid with a total weight of around 2.5\ntonnes. The aid sent includes medicines, field tents, food, supplies for\nvulnerable groups, and various other supporting equipment. In addition,\n10 portable Wi-Fi units were also sent to help overcome communication\nobstacles in several affected areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommunication is very important there. When communication can be\nreached, information about conditions on the ground will also be\nobtained more quickly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said speed is one of the important factors in the search and\nrescue process for victims. The deployed team will immediately\ncoordinate with the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police to determine task\ndistribution and priority areas.<\/p>\n<p>Several areas that are of initial concern in the mitigation and\nvictim search process are Sikka, Manggarai, and East Manggarai\nregencies. However, aid will be adjusted according to conditions and\nneeds on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>The flight of the SAR team and aid used a Police Air aircraft from\nPondok Cabe Airport, South Tangerang, to Labuan Bajo. The journey is\nestimated to take around three hours with a time difference of one hour\nearlier in the Central Indonesia Time zone.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, in addition to personnel and logistics, the Police have\nalso prepared three AW169 helicopters to support the distribution of aid\nto the public, especially in areas that are isolated or experiencing\nlimited access due to the disaster.<\/p>\n<p>The Police CASA aircraft had been in the NTT region before the\ndisaster and was used after the disaster to accelerate mobility to\nseveral areas, including Labuan Bajo and other regions.<\/p>\n<p>Trunoyudo confirmed that aid will continue to be sent on an ongoing\nbasis based on the results of needs assessment on the ground.
