        "content": "<p>Police continue probe on Soeripto<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Jakarta Police detectives are focusing their<br>\ninvestigation into former secretary-general of the forestry<br>\nministry Soeripto on reports that he leaked state secrets to<br>\nJapan and Australia.<\/p>\n<p>National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Didi Widayadi said on<br>\nThursday that while continuing the questioning of Soeripto, the<br>\ndetectives would also be working with the National Police, the<br>\nJapanese Embassy and an Australian foundation on the matter of<br>\nthe documents.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We need expert advice and proof to find out if the documents<br>\nSoeripto had reportedly provided the two countries with, could be<br>\nclassified as state secrets or just vital information,&quot; Didi told<br>\nreporters at National Police Headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta Police detectives are scheduled to question Soeripto<br>\non Monday to verify the reports.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We will also be working in collaboration with the related<br>\nembassies. Soeripto will now also be required to report to the<br>\nJakarta Police, not once, but twice a week, from Monday onwards.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Soeripto was arrested on May 1 following the arrest of three<br>\nof his men at a hotel in Central Jakarta. Police, however, said<br>\nthere was no need to detain Soeripto provided that he followed<br>\ncertain conditions.<\/p>\n<p>He said he was leading a research foundation which focused on<br>\nresearch into Indonesian defense and strategy and the &quot;research<br>\nwork was often used by the National Resilience Institute<br>\n(Lemhannas).&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Soeripto added that his work focused mainly on domestic mass<br>\nconflict, particularly those driven by economic instability,<br>\npolitical conditions and relationships shared between civilians<br>\nand the Indonesian Military (TNI).<\/p>\n<p>Backing Soeripto&apos;s statements, the former defense minister who<br>\nis also a former Lemhannas deputy governor, Juwono Sudarsono, had<br>\nsaid that he had benefited from information supplied by<br>\nSoeripto&apos;s foundation, which Juwono said was about facts on<br>\ndefense.
