Police complete Rais' dossier<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Police submitted the dossier of JW Marriott Hotel
\nbombing suspect M. Rais to the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office on
\nThursday, paving the way for his trial at the Central Jakarta
\nDistrict Court.<\/p>\n
"We have completed the investigation and interrogation of
\nRais. Today we submitted the dossier to the prosecutor. We
\nbelieve that there is no more room for him to avoid prosecution
\nbecause we have provided all the necessary evidence," National
\nPolice spokesman Sr. Comr. Zainuri Lubis said.<\/p>\n
The JW Marriott Hotel in South Jakarta was bombed on Aug. 5 by
\na group believed to be linked to regional terrorist network
\nJamaah Islamiyah. At least 12 people were killed in the bombing
\nand 147 others injured.<\/p>\n
If the prosecutor's office decides the dossier is complete, it
\nwill hand over the document to the Central Jakarta District Court
\nfor trial.<\/p>\n
Rais would be the second suspect in the JW Marriott bombing to
\nstand trial. The Bengkulu District Court began the trial of
\nanother suspect, Sardona Silwangi, last week.<\/p>\n
Rais and Asmar Latin Sani, Azahari and Noordin Moh Top
\nallegedly transported the explosives used in the bombing to
\nSardona's house in Bengkulu from Riau. The suspects then
\nallegedly moved the explosives to Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Asmar died in the bombing while the two main suspects, Azahari
\nand Noordin, are still at large.<\/p>\n
"We will indict Rais under Law No. 15\/2003 on terrorism, the
\nCriminal Code and Law No. 12\/1951 on emergencies for his alleged
\nrole in helping the bombers," said Zainuri. --JP<\/p>",
