Police commission selection to start<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: As an initial step toward reforming the country's
\npolice service, the government is set to select the members of
\nthe National Police Commission between May 1 and May 20.<\/p>\n
Candidates must be aged at least 45, not have ties to a
\npolitical party, and never have been convicted of a crime.<\/p>\n
\"We will shortlist 12 candidates to be submitted to the
\nPresident for approval,\" National Police spokesman Insp. Gen.
\nAryanto Budhiharjo told a press conference on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The commission will consist of nine members, six of whom will
\nbe shortlisted from the 12 candidates undergoing the selection
\nprocess, while the remaining three will represent the Office of
\nthe Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security
\nAffairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Justice
\nand Human Rights.<\/p>\n
