Indonesian Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has urged holiday returnees to take advantage of the government's Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy, effective from 25-27 March 2026, to avoid congestion during the peak of the first wave of returns. This measure aims to distribute traffic more evenly and reduce road strain, amid a significant increase in the number of travellers despite a notable decline in traffic accidents and fatalities. The Chief emphasised the importance of inter-agency collaboration, including preparations for adverse weather in eastern Indonesia, to ensure smooth operations through to the end of the return flow.

Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has urged the public to
make use of the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy in effect from 25-27
March 2026. This policy is expected to serve as an option for returnees
to avoid being caught in the density of the peak first-wave return
flow.

This was conveyed by General Sigit after leading a video conference
monitoring tourist sites and national return flow readiness from the 91
Command Center in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Tuesday (24/3/2026).

The Police Chief explained that the government has provided
flexibility through the WFA scheme to ensure that the burden on highways
during the return flow is more distributed and does not pile up at one
time.

“We are providing relaxation. Besides the peak return flow today on
the 24th, on the 25th, 26th, and 27th March, there is a government
policy for WFA. This can be an option for the public so that not
everyone chooses to return today, thus it is hoped that it can ease the
peak return flow,” stated General Sigit.

On this occasion, General Sigit also presented evaluation data on the
2026 homecoming flow. Although the number of returnees this year has
seen a significant increase, the traffic accident (laka lantas) rate and
fatality level have shown a downward trend.

“The accident rate and fatality rate have decreased. Of course, this
is our emphasis so that until the entire return flow series is
completed, these figures can be maintained,” emphasised the former Head
of Criminal Investigation.

In addition to focusing on traffic management, the Police Chief also
issued special instructions regarding the potential for bad weather,
particularly in eastern Indonesia, which could impact crossing
routes.

“There is potential for rain in the eastern region; this is a note.
We ask all members to really prepare themselves to face it if bad
weather occurs, so that engineering and arrangements can be better,” he
added.

The Police Chief stressed that the success of securing the homecoming
and return flow is the result of collaboration from all parties. He
appreciated the synergy between the Indonesian National Police (Polri),
the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and all related
agencies.

“The success of this homecoming and return service is a collective
success. We always encourage synergy and collaboration so that the best
service can be provided to the public,” he concluded.

In this 91 Command Center agenda, Bali Deputy Governor I Nyoman Giri
Prasta was present, along with Bali’s Regional Leadership Coordination
Forum (Forkopimda), including Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel
Adityajaya and Udayana Regional Military Commander Major General TNI
Piek Budyakto. Representatives from the Ministry of Transportation,
National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Meteorology, Climatology,
and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), and PT Jasa Raharja were also in
attendance. This synergy demonstrates the compactness of all
stakeholders in escorting Operation Ketupat 2026.

Accompanying the Police Chief in this agenda were Assistant for
Operations of the Police Chief Commissioner General Fadil Imran and Head
of the Police Public Relations Division Inspector General Johnny Eddizon
Isir. The agenda was also followed virtually by Police Chiefs and Police
Resort Chiefs as well as Regional Leadership Coordination Forums across
Indonesia.
",
