Police arrests 105 criminals<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The Jakarta Police have arrested 105 criminals in an
\noperation staged between Jan. 23 and Feb. 11. Detective chief Sr.
\nComr. Bambang Hendarso Danuri said on Wednesday the criminals
\nwere involved in 76 street crimes including pickpocketing,
\nextortion and robbery.<\/p>\n
The police also seized weapons including 27 sharp weapons and
\na gun. Items seized as evidence included Rp 1.7 billion
\n(US$165,000) in cash, 25.73 kilograms of gold, four cars, three
\nmotorcycles, 15 cellular phones, a 4.7-gram gold necklace, eight
\nbags, three wallets and three car rearview mirrors.<\/p>\n
Bambang announced that the domain of criminal activity has
\nreached the formerly safe areas of Gambir railway station, Jl.
\nCasablanca and Senayan area in South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
He also said that 45 of the 151 crimes that took place from
\nJan. 1 to Jan. 22 had been handed over to the prosecutors' office
\nwhile another 33 still needed time to be completed. The police
\nhad to halt investigations into six cases as the suspects had
\ndied and the rest were still under investigation.<\/p>\n
Among the cases handed over to the prosecutors' office were
