The Criminal Investigation Unit of Pinang Police Precinct has\nsuccessfully arrested two motorcycle theft (curanmor) suspects in\nPinang, Tangerang City. Six motorcycles were seized as evidence.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis operation is part of handling police reports received from\nJanuary through February 2026, with incidents occurring in Pinang\nDistrict, Tangerang City,\u201d stated Metro Tangerang City Police Chief\nCommissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari in a statement on Sunday (1 March\n2026).<\/p>\n
The arrests stemmed from a community patrol (cipkon) conducted by\nPinang Police Precinct officers. The theft occurred on Tuesday (24\nFebruary) at approximately 03:20 WIB in the Panunggangan Utara area.<\/p>\n
The victim had parked a Honda Beat motorcycle in their home\u2019s yard\nwith the steering locked. During the pre-dawn meal time, the victim\nheard suspicious sounds from the porch and discovered someone attempting\nto steal the motorcycle.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe victim spontaneously shouted \u2018thief\u2019, which was heard by the\nOperational Team of Pinang Police Precinct conducting patrol operations\nto prevent robbery, theft and motorcycle theft as well as public order\ndisturbances. Officers immediately pursued and successfully apprehended\none suspect at the location,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Following interrogation and investigation led by the Pinang Police\nPrecinct\u2019s Investigation Chief, officers moved to Cisoka District.\nPolice successfully apprehended a second suspect and recovered five\nadditional motorcycles of various brands allegedly obtained through\ncriminal activity.<\/p>\n
The two apprehended suspects, identified as M (30) and R (38), are\nknown to work as daily wage labourers. Besides the six motorcycles of\nvarious brands, police confiscated several tools used to commit the\ncrimes, including a modified T-shaped wrench, an L-shaped wrench, a\nscrewdriver, and two angle grinders allegedly used to manufacture\nmodified keys.<\/p>\n
Both suspects are currently being held at Pinang Police Precinct and\nface charges under Article 477 of Law Number 1 of 2023 (New Criminal\nCode) regarding theft with aggravating circumstances (curat) carrying\nmaximum prison sentences of 7 to 9 years.<\/p>\n
Raden emphasised that authorities will continue investigating to\nuncover possible criminal networks and other crime locations.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will not tolerate street criminals, particularly those committing\nmotorcycle theft that disturb the community. Regular patrols and firm\naction will continue to maintain security in our jurisdiction,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n
Currently, investigators are conducting intensive examination and\ntracing possible connections to other crime scenes involving the two\nsuspects.
