Police have arrested the driver of a pickup truck who rammed the\nPancasila Gate of the DPR\/MPR building during a protest on Thursday\n(27\/8).<\/p>\n
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Budi\nHermanto, said the driver, who is from Jember, East Java, was under the\ninfluence of alcohol at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen he was found, the individual was still under the influence of\nalcohol,\u201d he said on Saturday (29\/8).<\/p>\n
The driver\u2019s attempt to force his way through the rear access gate of\nthe DPR resulted in several security personnel being injured.<\/p>\n
In addition, officers discovered a sharp weapon inside the pickup\ntruck.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was a pickup truck that tried to force its way through, rammed\nthe gate, and injured security personnel handling the demonstration. The\nindividual has been detained, and a sharp weapon was found,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Budi added that his team is still investigating whether the driver is\nconnected to any mass organisations.<\/p>\n

Previously, a video of the pickup truck ramming the Pancasila Gate\ncirculated on social media. Several security officers at the scene were\nseen nearly being hit by the pickup truck.
