        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) \u2013 Police have arrested a motor vehicle thief while\nhe was about to transact with a receiver in the parking lot outside\nTangerang City Mall in Banten Province. AKBP Parikhesit, Head of the\nCriminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of the Metro Tangerang City\nPolice, told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday that the suspect, RTS\n(28), was arrested in Kampung Jeletreng, Pengasinan Village, Gunung\nSindur, Bogor Regency, West Java.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred on Tuesday night (3\/3) when the victim parked\nhis motorcycle at the roadside parking area before entering the mall. On\nreturning, the motorcycle was missing. The vehicle was fitted with GPS,\nso the victim reported to the police and the operations team tracked the\nsignal toward Gunung Sindur, Bogor Regency.<\/p>\n<p>Upon realising the bike was moving toward Bogor, the team conducted\ntracking and pursuit. \u2018The suspect was secured as he was about to\ntransact with an intermediary identified as C.H alias A (43), who was\nalso detained,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>When the bike was found unlocked at the handlebar, the suspect pushed\nit away from the parking location. \u2018He then made a duplicate key before\ntaking the motorcycle,\u2019 Parikhesit added.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that before the transaction was complete, the suspect\nhad asked the intermediary for Rp150,000 to cover the cost of key\nduplication via a digital wallet app.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018This is not the first time. The suspect has sold motorcycles to the\nsame intermediary twice. In other words, there is a pattern and habit in\nthis practice,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Both suspects have been detained at the Metro Tangerang City Police\nfor further investigation. Police are also studying the possibility of\nother networks involved in the case.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects face charges of aggravated theft and receiving stolen\ngoods, or receiving stolen goods as a habit or livelihood, as referred\nto in Article 477 KUHP in conjunction with Articles 591 KUHP or 592\nKUHP.<\/p>\n<p>Metro Tangerang City Police Chief Kombes Pol Raden Muhammad Jauhari\nreminded the public not to be lax when parking vehicles, especially in\nopen areas. \u2018Ensure the vehicle is locked, use an additional lock, and\npark in a supervised location. Crimes occur because opportunities arise.\nWe will continue to take firm action against motor vehicle thieves,\u2019 he\nsaid.<\/p>",
