Police arrest Metromini driver<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): East Jakarta Police have arrested a man who they
\nclaim is the Metro Mini bus driver who ran over a man, named
\nIwan, and then dumped his dead body in a swamp in the Cakung area
\nin East Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The suspect, Mukalim, was arrested on Sunday at the residence
\nof a relative in East Jakarta. The police are now trying to
\narrest the bus conductor, allegedly named Chairul Anam, who is
\nstill at large.<\/p>\n
The bus ran over Iwan on Jl. Cakung-Cilincing, in East
\nJakarta. The tragedy reportedly caused the bus' passengers to
\nbecome hysterical.<\/p>\n
Witnesses say that the bus driver pretended to check Iwan's
\ncondition and ordered all of the passengers to get off the bus,
\nsaying he wanted to take Iwan to a hospital as quickly as
\npossible.<\/p>\n
Police say that he later dumped the body, after ascertaining
\nthat Iwan had died.<\/p>\n
The Suara Pembaruan daily reported yesterday that one of the
\npassengers had informed the Cakung police about the accident.<\/p>\n
Iwan's body was found by local people three days prior to
\nMukalim's arrest. (mas)<\/p>",
