        "content": "<p>A gang of inter-provincial gold fraud perpetrators was apprehended by\nofficers from the Batang Police at their hideout in a hotel in the city\nof Pekalongan, Central Java. Seven suspects from various regions were\nsuccessfully arrested and dozens of pieces of fake gold jewellery were\nsecured as evidence.<\/p>\n<p>All the suspects did not resist when raided by the Batang Police\u2019s\nResmob team at a hotel on Jalan Gajahmada, Pekalongan City. In addition\nto arresting the perpetrators, police also managed to secure evidence in\nthe form of dozens of pieces of fake gold jewellery, a minibus car,\nmobile phones, and proceeds from the fraud amounting to Rp128\nmillion.<\/p>\n<p>This gold fraud gang each had their own roles, namely Febri Kristian\nLudianto alias Febri, 46, who was in charge of communicating with\nvictims, Jubriyono alias Jupri, 40, who received payment for\ntransactions, and Ulfan Gozari alias Ulfan, 38, who monitored the\nsituation behind the rented house.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Ahmad Nur alias Ahmad Imam, 66, acted as a provider of\nfunds and owner of the gold, Edy Susanto, 40, and Ahmad Zaenuri, 26, as\ngetaway drivers, and Ahmad Arifin, 52, also helped carry out the\naction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSix perpetrators are from Bondowoso and Situbondo, East Java, while\none other suspect is from Kendal, Central Java,\u201d said the Head of the\nCriminal Investigation Unit of the Batang Police, Iptu Albertus\nSudaryono, on Sunday (17\/5).<\/p>\n<p>Chronology of the Fraud<\/p>\n<p>According to Albertus, the gold fraud case was revealed after a\nreport was received from a victim with the initials AK, a resident of\nDesa Gadungsari, Wonosari District, Gunung Kidul. The victim claimed to\nhave been scammed while carrying out a gold transaction at a rented\nhouse in Desa Babadan, Limpung District, Batang Regency.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the gold buying and selling fraud, Albertus Sudaryono\ncontinued, the victim lost Rp174 million. This was because, after\npayment was made and the jewellery was given, it turned out that the\ngold was fake. Meanwhile, the gang of seven people immediately fled\nthrough the back door of the rented house.<\/p>\n<p>After receiving the report, said Albertus Sudaryono, police\nimmediately deployed officers to carry out an investigation by examining\nCCTV footage around the location to track the whereabouts of the\nperpetrators. From there, it was learned that the direction of the\nperpetrators\u2019 escape was towards Pekalongan City.<\/p>\n<p>The Raid at the Hotel<\/p>\n<p>Once the direction of the perpetrators\u2019 escape was confirmed,\nAlbertus Sudaryono said, the Roban Hood Resmob Team together with the\nLimpung Police Sector Criminal Investigation Unit were immediately\ndeployed to carry out a pursuit. The police finally managed to arrest\nall the perpetrators in room number 122 at a hotel on Jalan Gajah Mada,\nPekalongan City.<\/p>\n<p>From the results of the raid, said Albertus Sudaryono, in addition to\narresting seven suspects, officers also managed to secure a number of\npieces of evidence. These include cash remaining from the fraud\namounting to Rp128 million, gold jewellery in the form of eight\nbracelets, one necklace and four rings (believed to be genuine) as bait,\nand 10 gold bracelets (fake) used to convince victims during\ntransactions. Police also confiscated a black minibus with license plate\nnumber P 1486 BCA and six mobile phones.
