        "content": "<p>The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of\nthe West Java Regional Police has uncovered a criminal case of\nunlicensed (illegal) mining in the Mount Pongkor area, Bogor Regency. In\nthis revelation, police secured four suspects allegedly involved in\nmining, processing, and selling gold without official permits.<\/p>\n<p>The illegal mining case occurred in two areas, namely Nanggung\nSub-district and Leuwiliang Sub-district. After a series of\ninvestigations, officers successfully arrested four suspects with\ninitials M, E.M, M.N.L, and H.M.A. All of them are known to be\nself-employed and also sell gold in Leuwiliang Market.<\/p>\n<p>Based on investigation results, the perpetrators are suspected of\nhaving conducted this illegal activity since 2005 until now. They\nprocessed and refined soil and rocks containing gold and other mineral\nmetals without mining business permits.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of Special Criminal Investigation (Dirkrimsus) of the\nWest Java Police, Commissioner Pol. Wirdhanto Hadicaksono, stated that\nthe modus operandi used was supplying and trading processed soil or\nrocks containing gold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe selling price is determined based on the gold content, with the\nhighest purity reaching 24 carat or pure gold sold at around Rp2.5\nmillion per gram; estimated monthly, it can reach Rp9 billion,\u201d he said\non Thursday, 30 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In uncovering this case, Dirkrimsus said his members also secured\nseveral pieces of evidence, including sacks of mud residue from gold\nprocessing, two mobile phones, 7.2 grams of gold, 88 grams of refined\nsilver, weighing scales. \u201cAs well as various processing equipment and\nchemicals,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner Pol. Wirdhanto Hadicaksono conveyed that the suspects\nwill be charged under articles related to unlicensed mining. \u201cThe\nsuspects are charged under the unlicensed mining article with a maximum\npenalty of five years\u2019 imprisonment and a fine of up to Rp100 billion,\u201d\nhe stated.<\/p>\n<p>The West Java Regional Police emphasised that it will continue to\ntake action against illegal mining activities that harm the state and\nhave the potential to damage the environment.<\/p>",
