        "content": "<p>The Sepaku Police, part of the Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) Resort\nPolice, have uncovered a case of illegal distribution of Category 1\nnarcotics, specifically methamphetamine, in the Nusantara Capital City\n(IKN) area, precisely in Bumi Harapan Village, Sepaku District. During\nthe operation, police arrested one male suspect, identified by the\ninitials EH, aged 25.<\/p>\n<p>PPU Resort Police Chief, AKBP Andreas Alek Danantara, through Sepaku\nPolice Chief AKP Syarifuddin, stated on Tuesday that the arrest occurred\non Saturday around 9:30 PM local time. The suspect, EH, a resident of\nBukit Raya Village, Sepaku District, was apprehended along with evidence\nof methamphetamine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis operation demonstrates the Sepaku Police\u2019s seriousness in\nprotecting its jurisdiction from the threat of narcotics distribution,\nespecially considering Sepaku District is a strategic area that is part\nof IKN,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n<p>The case began with information from the public regarding suspicious\nactivity involving methamphetamine transactions in Bumi Harapan Village.\nResidents reported feeling uneasy about the rampant drug abuse in the\narea. Following this tip, personnel from the Criminal Investigation Unit\nand the Intelligence Unit conducted in-depth investigations and field\nsurveillance.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation culminated in the arrest of a man suspected of\nbeing involved in the illicit drug distribution network. Officers became\nsuspicious of a white Grandmax vehicle believed to be transporting\nmethamphetamine. The vehicle, driven by suspect EH, was stopped while\ntravelling along Jalan Negara RT. 006 in Bumi Harapan Village,\nSepaku.<\/p>\n<p>During a search of the vehicle, officers found four packets of\nsuspected methamphetamine with a total gross weight of approximately\n1.97 grams, hidden in various parts of the car\u2019s interior. Police also\nseized Rp450,000 in cash from the suspect\u2019s trouser pocket, believed to\nbe proceeds from drug transactions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the inspection and search, officers found four packets\nsuspected to be methamphetamine. Several other items of evidence related\nto the narcotics crime were also secured,\u201d said AKP Syarifuddin.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the four packets of methamphetamine and the cash,\npolice confiscated a methamphetamine smoking device (bong), plastic\nclips, two mobile phones, a wallet, and the vehicle used by the\nsuspect.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary examination revealed the suspect claimed to have obtained\nthe methamphetamine from someone in the Balikpapan area. However, the\nidentity of the supplier is still under investigation and being\ndeveloped by officers to uncover a wider distribution network.<\/p>\n<p>The Sepaku Police Chief stressed that his department will not\ntolerate drug abuse or distribution within its jurisdiction. He stated\nthat drug trafficking is a real threat to the younger generation and\npublic safety, and his team will continue to take firm action while\nurging all elements of society to join the fight against narcotics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also appreciate the active role of the community in providing\ninformation to the police so that this case could be uncovered quickly,\u201d\nhe emphasised.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect is currently detained at the Sepaku Police station for\nfurther legal proceedings. Investigators are continuing to develop the\ncase to uncover the possible involvement of other perpetrators in the\nnetwork.
