Police apprehend local cyber-pimps<\/p>\n

The police have arrested a husband and wife who were allegedly
\noperating a prostitution ring over the Internet for the past two
\nmonths.<\/p>\n
Ramdoni alias Rino and Yanti Sari alias Bela opened a website
\ncalled the Rino Massage Club on the world wide web to offer sex
\nescorts for between Rp 2 million and Rp 4 million for three hours
\nof service.<\/p>\n
\"We arrested them yesterday evening (Thursday evening) at a
\nhotel in South Jakarta after our officers ordered the sex escort
\nservices in an undercover operation,\" said the director of the
\ncity detective for special crimes division, Sr. Comr. Edmon
\nIlyas.<\/p>\n
The couple employed some 20 female sex workers whose pictures
\nand detailed information were uploaded to the Rino Massage Club
\nhomepage.<\/p>\n
\"They have been running the prostitution via the Internet for
\ntwo months. However, they seem to have been in the prostitution
\nbusiness for the last two years,\" said Edmon.<\/p>\n
Ramdoni and Yanti usually took a 40 percent cut and the sex
\nworkers took the remaining 60 percent from every payment the
\ngirls got from their customers, Edmon added.<\/p>\n
Along with the nabbed pair, the police also confiscated the
\nhard disc on their computer where the homepage was stored,
\npayment receipts and over Rp 1 million in cash.<\/p>\n
In another development, police have finished the dossiers for
\nseveral pornography cases against four tabloids and a daily after
\nreceiving complaints lodged by several witnesses.<\/p>\n
\"We'll take (legal) action against those tabloids and
\nnewspapers which have allegedly disseminated pornographic
\nmaterials. We just don't want the public to think that we've done
\nnothing to deal with it (pornography),\" said Jakarta Police
\nspokesman Sr. Comr. Prasetyo.<\/p>\n
Some of the editors of the allegedly pornographic
\npublications, have been summoned as suspects in the cases.<\/p>\n
Those suspects are Tasmi P.S., chief editor of Lipstik, Nanang
\nH, chief editor of Hallo Sayang, Irwan, chief editor of newspaper
\nLampu Merah, Nikita Kinamura, chief of Bom, Ipung, chief editor
\nof tabloid Pria Pop, and Rully, chief editor of the tabloid Hot.<\/p>\n
\"We have completed the dossiers on Hallo Sayang and Lampu
\nMerah, while finishing three other dossiers,\" said Prasetyo.<\/p>\n
Hallo Sayang and Lampu Merah were reported by actress Sarah
\nAzhari, after they ran nude photos and a story of Sarah who was
\nclandestinely photographed in the Budi Han studio dressing room.<\/p>\n
Prasetyo said police had taken testimonies from several
\nexperts, including a media expert, a language expert, and from
\nthe Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI).<\/p>",
