The Banjar Police Resort in West Java is heightening vigilance on Siliwangi Road during the 2026 Eid exodus period, identifying it as a high-risk accident location based on historical traffic incident data. Authorities are implementing preventative measures including traffic barriers and road markings, whilst enforcing restrictions on heavy vehicles (three-axle trucks and above) on toll and non-toll roads from 13-29 March 2026 under transport ministry regulations. The vehicle restrictions aim to ensure smooth traffic flow and reduce accident risks along key routes as citizens travel home for Eid.

Banjar — The Banjar Police Resort in West Java is monitoring the
potential for traffic accidents on Siliwangi Road, Banjar City, during
the 2026 Eid exodus period.

Banjar Police Chief AKBP Didi Dewantoro, S.I.K., S.H., M.A.P. stated
that the road is one of the accident-prone locations based on previous
traffic incident data.

“The accident-prone location, according to traffic incident data, is
indeed on Siliwangi Road leading towards the Central Java border,”
Dewantoro told ANTARA at the integrated police post in Banjar City on
Monday.

He explained that accidents on the route are typically caused by
vehicles colliding with other vehicles that are stopped or parked on the
roadway.

According to him, the relatively good road condition and presence of
curves cause some drivers, particularly motorcyclists, to frequently
fail to notice vehicles stopped at the road’s edge.

To prevent similar incidents, police have installed road barriers in
the form of traffic cones on the roadway to prevent vehicles from
stopping or parking indiscriminately at the location.

Additionally, police are also monitoring heavy vehicles during the
Eid exodus period. He stated that three-axle or articulated vehicles are
not permitted to pass in accordance with government policy during
Operation Ketupat 2026.

“Starting from the 13th, three-axle vehicles have not been permitted
to pass because there is already a ministerial joint decree,” he
said.

“If they do pass, we will stop them at the border post, then we will
escort them into the parking area at the type-A terminal in Banjar
City,” said Didi.

The restriction policy was also emphasised by the Ministry of
Transport through a Joint Decree (SKB) regulating operational
restrictions on cargo transport vehicles during the Eid transport
period.

“Based on the SKB, trucks with three or more axles are prohibited
from passing on toll and non-toll roads during the Eid transport period,
namely from 13 March 2026 at 12.00 local time until 29 March 2026 at
24.00 local time,” said Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi when
inspecting the north coast route in West Java on Sunday early morning
(15/3).

The restriction is implemented to ensure smooth traffic flow whilst
reducing the potential for traffic accidents on the main routes as
citizens travel to their hometowns.
",
