        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro\nJaya), together with elements of the Indonesian National Armed Forces\n(TNI), deployed 4,151 joint personnel to escort and secure a public\nexpression of opinion by a number of student groups in Central Jakarta\non Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner\nBudi Hermanto, stated in Jakarta on Friday that the deployment was\ncarried out to ensure the expression of aspirations proceeded safely and\nin an orderly manner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolda Metro Jaya respects the right of citizens to express their\nopinions in public. The presence of personnel on the ground is to\nprovide service and security so that the activity runs safely, orderly,\nand does not disrupt other members of the public,\u201d Budi said.<\/p>\n<p>Budi detailed that the thousands of joint personnel consisted of\n3,651 police officers and were supported by 500 TNI personnel. In\naddition to deploying personnel, the police have also mapped out a\nnumber of anticipatory measures regarding the dynamics of the situation\non the ground.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese anticipatory measures include potential traffic congestion,\nvehicle convoys, disruption to public facilities, and potential criminal\nacts,\u201d Budi said.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding traffic flow around the Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan and\nMonas areas, Budi explained that the police have prepared situational\ntraffic diversions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have prepared situational traffic management. If there is\ncongestion or a need to divert traffic around the protest location,\nofficers will implement traffic engineering while prioritising the\nsafety of participants and road users,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Polda Metro Jaya also appealed to all protesters to express their\naspirations peacefully and comply with the applicable laws and\nregulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge participants to remain orderly, not to carry dangerous\nobjects, not to commit acts of vandalism, and to work together to\nmaintain a conducive situation,\u201d Budi concluded.<\/p>",
