The governance strengthening undertaken by PT Permodalan Nasional
Madani (PNM) together with Danantara is considered crucial capital for
expanding financing access and empowerment for underprivileged
communities, particularly women engaged in ultra-micro enterprises. To
date, PNM has served 23.1 million customers across Indonesia. This
achievement positions PNM as one of the world’s largest empowerment and
financing institutions for underprivileged women. The governance
reinforcement not only impacts the institutional aspect but also drives
improvements in service quality, accountability, and the effectiveness
of financing distribution to community groups previously unreached by
formal financial services. Since joining the Danantara ecosystem, the
presentation of company information has also been strengthened through a
more data-driven approach based on real conditions in the field. This
step is deemed important to ensure the company’s management operates
transparently and sustainably. PNM President Director Kindaris stated
that Danantara’s support is an integral part of strengthening the
company’s efforts to deliver empowerment programmes that have a greater
impact on the community. “For us, growth is not merely about numbers,
but about more underprivileged women having the opportunity to rise, do
business, and improve their families’ lives,” Kindaris said in a
statement on Tuesday (23/6/2026). According to him, the governance
strengthening carried out by the company must be directly proportional
to the improvement in the quality of financing distribution and business
mentoring for customers. Thus, the programme’s benefits do not stop at
capital access but also encourage increased business capacity and family
welfare. Meanwhile, Danantara Chief Operating Officer and Head of the
State-Owned Enterprise Management Agency Dony Oskaria appreciated the
performance improvement of several SOEs, including PNM, which is
considered capable of exceeding set targets. According to Dony, this
performance improvement aligns with the commitment to strengthen
transparency and accountability within the SOE environment. PNM also
continues to expand its service reach to underdeveloped, frontier, and
outermost (3T) regions. This step is taken to reach women ultra-micro
entrepreneurs who have long faced limited access to banking and formal
financing services. Kindaris emphasised that this service expansion is
part of the company’s commitment to narrowing the financing access gap
between urban communities and remote areas. “Together with Danantara,
PNM wants to ensure that empowerment benefits are delivered with better
governance, higher quality distribution, and a spirit that remains close
to the community. So that there is no longer a gap in financing and
empowerment access for those living in urban areas or at the edges of
Indonesia,” said Kindaris. The governance strengthening and service
expansion are considered important factors in promoting more equitable
financial inclusion while simultaneously strengthening the grassroots
economy through the empowerment of women ultra-micro entrepreneurs in
various regions.
",
