        "content": "<p>PNG opens stock exchange<\/p>\n<p>PORT MORESBY (AFP): Papua New Guinea finally opened a stock<br>\nexchange Wednesday after two decades of discussion, with the<br>\ngovernment promising a hands-off approach.<\/p>\n<p>The Port Moresby Stock Exchange, or POMSX as it will be known,<br>\nwill operate on a trial basis for about a month with full trading<br>\ngetting under way when its systems have been put through their<br>\npaces.<\/p>\n<p>At the official launch, Prime Minister Bill Skate said it<br>\nwould be of great benefit to the people of PNG.<\/p>\n<p>\"When it is open for business, the Port Moresby stock exchange<br>\nwill open doors to increased foreign investments, and it will<br>\ncreate job opportunities for our people,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>He assured investors his government would not interfere in its<br>\noperations after last year attempting to appoint its own<br>\nchairman.<\/p>",
