        "content": "<p>Commander of the Indonesian National Army\u2019s Peacekeeping Mission\nCentre, Major General Iwan Bambang Setiawan, visited three personnel\nfrom the Yonmek Konga XXIII-S Task Force of the United Nations Interim\nForce in Lebanon who were wounded in an Israeli attack. The three TNI\nsoldiers are currently receiving treatment at Saint George Hospital in\nBeirut, Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>The three soldiers visited by the PMPP Commander were First\nLieutenant Inf Sulthan Wirdean Maulana, Private First Class Rico\nPramudia, and Private First Class Deni Rianto. All three were injured as\na result of artillery strikes that landed in the United Nations facility\narea in Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>Iwan stated that the country is committed to protecting all TNI\npersonnel serving in the UNIFIL peacekeeping force. \u201cAnd actively\ncontributing to global peacekeeping efforts through the deployment of\nthe Garuda Contingent,\u201d Iwan said in his statement on Sunday, 5 April\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>During the visit, Iwan was accompanied by the Extraordinary and\nPlenipotentiary Ambassador to Lebanon Dicky Komar, UNIFIL SeaCoast DCO\nColonel Infantry A. Juni Toa, and TNI PMPP Dirbinops Colonel Infantry\nUntung Prayitno.<\/p>\n<p>Various attacks in Lebanon have impacted Indonesian peacekeeping\npersonnel. From late March to early April this year, three TNI soldiers\nwere killed due to Israeli attack explosions. Eight TNI soldiers were\nalso wounded.<\/p>\n<p>The three TNI soldiers killed in the peacekeeping mission were\nposthumously Major Infantry Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, posthumously Sergeant\nMajor Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and posthumously Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon.\nA farewell ceremony and repatriation for the three soldiers\u2019 bodies was\nheld at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Saturday, 4 April\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that there needs to be inherent\nsecurity guarantees for global peacekeeping personnel, including the\nUNIFIL force. \u201cThere must be a security guarantee for the peacekeeping\nsoldiers,\u201d he said at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang,\nBanten, on Saturday, 4 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, soldiers in UNIFIL are not peacemakers but\npeacekeepers. Because, Sugiono said, the personnel are not trained or\nequipped for peacemaking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir equipment and training are for maintaining peace, the peaceful\nsituation that is preserved,\u201d said the General Secretary of the Gerindra\nParty DPP.<\/p>\n<p>The peacekeeping duty, he said, is also a United Nations mandate.\nTherefore, Sugiono urged the UN to immediately evaluate the safety of\nglobal peacekeeping soldiers, especially UNIFIL.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe strive for our peacekeeping troops to be healthy and safe in\ncarrying out the tasks assigned to them,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
