Semarang (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII)\nand the Islamic Student Association (HMI) of Semarang City have\nexpressed their full support for the hosting of the 31st National\nMusabaqah Tilawatil Qur\u2019an (MTQ) in 2026 in the capital of Central\nJava.<\/p>\n
The Chairperson of PC PMII Semarang, M Afiq Nur Cahaya, stated in\nSemarang on Thursday that hosting the National MTQ represents an\nextraordinary opportunity and momentum. \u201cIt is a quite extraordinary and\nspecial momentum because it has been a long time since Semarang had the\nopportunity to host the National MTQ,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the hosting of the National MTQ will position\nSemarang and Central Java as a national magnet and focal point.\n\u201cCertainly, it is not just MSMEs that will be enhanced by this national\nagenda, but also the cultural and educational sectors, among others,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
He expressed hope that the National MTQ would not merely be a\nceremonial event held for a limited period, but would be capable of\ncreating something meaningful. \u201cSemarang is a Qur\u2019anic city, a friendly,\ntolerant, and inclusive city that can serve as a model for other cities\nin Indonesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSemarang has many universities and numerous youth elements that can\nbe involved and included in ensuring the success of the MTQN,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
The Chairperson of HMI Semarang, M Nabil Mualif, stated that the\nNational MTQ is one of the largest spiritual events attended by\ndelegates from across Indonesia. \u201cFor us, this is both an event and a\nsource of motivation, especially for us HMI students who come from an\nIslamic background,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He noted that the appointment of Central Java, with Semarang City as\nthe host, demonstrates that Semarang is a tolerant city. In addition to\nspiritual enhancement, he stated that the hosting of the National MTQ\nwould also boost the regional economy by involving micro, small, and\nmedium enterprises (MSMEs).<\/p>\n
\u201cMSME friends, traders, and business owners can participate, thereby\ndriving the community\u2019s economy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The 31st National MTQ is scheduled to take place from 11\u201320 September\n2026, with competitions held across 12 arenas throughout Semarang.
