        "content": "<p>The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) is continuing to strengthen its\nhumanitarian operation to assist communities affected by the earthquake\nin East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Logistics aid is being dispatched in stages\nto meet the basic needs of the population while supporting emergency\nresponse efforts in the affected areas.<\/p>\n<p>To date, approximately 20 tonnes of PMI aid has been sent to NTT. The\nassistance has been mobilised through PMI\u2019s warehouse network, spanning\ncentral, regional and subregional facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The shipments are being carried out in cooperation with the National\nDisaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the Indonesian Air Force. One\nconsignment departed from the National Logistics Cluster Warehouse at\nHalim Perdanakusuma Air Base in East Jakarta aboard an Indonesian Air\nForce Boeing A-7305 aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Jakarta, PMI is also mobilising logistics from its\ncentral regional warehouse in Gresik as well as subregional warehouses\nin Kupang and Mataram. PMI has also established a logistics hub in\nLabuan Bajo to strengthen the distribution system for aid across\nNTT.<\/p>\n<p>Ilham Huznul, Head of the Facilities and Infrastructure Bureau at PMI\nHeadquarters, said the logistics shipments follow the directive of PMI\nChairman Jusuf Kalla to reinforce the humanitarian operation assisting\ncommunities affected by the NTT earthquake.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the directive of PMI Chairman Mr Jusuf Kalla, the NTT\nearthquake response is a major operation. We continue to mobilise\nlogistics to meet the needs of communities affected by the earthquake in\nNTT. To date, around 20 tonnes of PMI aid has been dispatched in\nstages,\u201d he told Media Indonesia on Thursday (20\/8).<\/p>\n<p>According to him, aid is being dispatched from multiple points to\naccelerate the mobilisation and distribution process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAid is not only sent from the National Logistics Cluster Warehouse\nin Jakarta and PMI\u2019s central regional warehouse in Gresik, but we are\nalso optimising PMI\u2019s subregional warehouses in Kupang and Mataram. We\nare doing this so that aid can move more quickly towards the affected\nareas,\u201d Ilham added.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that utilising multiple warehouse locations is PMI\u2019s\nstrategy for addressing the extensive needs of the humanitarian\noperation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLogistics sources are not solely concentrated in Jakarta.
