        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has received disaster relief\ndonations from Panasonic Gobel Group valued at Rp2.4 billion, comprising\nradios, torches, and batteries, to support rehabilitation efforts in\nSumatera.<\/p>\n<p>PMI Chairman Jusuf Kalla stated in Jakarta on Thursday that disaster\nresponse operations in Sumatera have now entered the rehabilitation\nphase, with the primary focus on restoring basic necessities for\ncommunities, including house repairs and clean water provision.<\/p>\n<p>According to Jusuf Kalla, one of the key initiatives being undertaken\nby PMI is the restoration of water distribution systems damaged by the\ndisaster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are now in the rehabilitation stage. Various measures are being\nimplemented to enable communities to restore their homes and normal\nlives. PMI is currently focusing on repairing clean water systems as\nmany pipes have been damaged,\u201d said Jusuf Kalla.<\/p>\n<p>Based on PMI\u2019s experience managing previous disasters in areas such\nas Yogyakarta and Malang, Kalla noted that repairs to pipe networks and\nrestoration to normal functioning can take up to one year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTypically, it takes around one year to ensure that the entire pipe\nand water distribution system returns to normal operation and\ncommunities regain access to clean water,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Panasonic Gobel Group donation, Jusuf Kalla\nreported that the company will also organise blood donation drives\ninvolving all company employees to help meet PMI\u2019s blood supply\nrequirements across Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the Panasonic Gobel Group donation, PMI has also received\ncontributions from Tokio Marine Group valued at USD50,000 and from the\nTaipei Economic and Trade Office in Indonesia valued at USD100,000.<\/p>\n<p>These contributions are expected to accelerate post-disaster\nrehabilitation efforts in Sumatera, particularly in restoring clean\nwater access for affected communities.<\/p>",
