Pluit Authority privatized<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Governor Surjadi Soedirdja has approved a
\nproposal to change the legal status of the Pluit Authority into a
\nlimited liability company called PT Pluit Usaha Jaya.<\/p>\n
The decision will enable the authority to become independent
\nand increase its contribution to the city's coffers.<\/p>\n
Surjadi said the city administration will continue to control
\nthe company and urged it to cooperate closely with other city
\nagencies, especially on land reclamation projects.<\/p>\n
An official of PT Pluit Usaha Jaya Darundono said they will
\nstart building office buildings, hotels, apartments, warehouses
\nand shopping centers in Muara Karang and Pluit in North Jakarta.<\/p>\n
He said his company is currently auditing its properties,
\nwhich in 1994 were valued at Rp 69.9 billion (US$31.77 million)
\nwith their total contribution to city revenues amounting to Rp
\n570 million.<\/p>\n
The properties included 30 apartment blocks in Pluit Timur,
\nshop\/houses, tennis courts, office buildings and parking
