PLN workers file complaint<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Eight workers of the state-owned company PLN
\nhave filed a complaint at the Jakarta chapter of the Indonesian
\nLegal Aid Institute, searching for help over their dismissals.<\/p>\n
Lawyer Apong Herlina said on Wednesday that the institute
\nsubmitted the workers' claim to the South Jakarta District Court
\nearlier this month. \"We are now waiting for the court to schedule
\na hearing,\" she said.<\/p>\n
She said the eight workers, whose duty was checking the cable
\ninstallation carried out by contractors, were accused of the
\ntheft of cables worth over Rp 800 ($359,699) million in 1988.<\/p>\n
She said that after an investigation by the company two
\nworkers were proven guilty and dismissed.<\/p>\n
\"However, the company kept investigating the case and
\ndismissed the eight workers in 1990,\" she said.<\/p>\n
The workers' complaints to the company unit of the civil
\nservant's corps KORPRI was in vain.<\/p>\n
\"The company also did not accept a statement by the
\ninspectorate general of the Mine and Energy Ministry to the
\neffect that these people were not involved,\" she said. (03)<\/p>",
