        "content": "<p>PT PLN (Persero) confirms that Sumatra\u2019s transmission system has\nreturned to normal. Enhanced monitoring has been implemented following\nthe mass power outage that began at 6:44 PM WIB on Friday, 22 May.<\/p>\n<p>Monitoring is being conducted intensively and coordinated directly by\nPLN\u2019s President Director and the Board of Directors, who visited the\nSumatra Power Transmission and Load Control Unit (UIP3BS) in Pekanbaru,\nRiau, on Sunday, 24 May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cContinuous comprehensive monitoring of all operational parameters is\nongoing. Real-time surveillance allows immediate response to\ndevelopments on the ground, ensuring the system remains safe, stable,\nand optimal in meeting public electricity needs,\u201d said PLN President\nDirector Darmawan Prasodjo in a statement on Monday, 25 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Darmawan stated that 5,579 megawatts (MW) of power supply has now\nbeen restored to 1,770 distribution networks previously affected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPLN is directly overseeing the restoration process on the ground,\nand the Sumatra electricity system is now fully normalised. The company\ncontinues to restore power to all customers,\u201d Darmawan added.<\/p>\n<p>PLN is also continuously monitoring electricity supply to public\nfacilities such as hospitals, airports, and community service centres.\nThis is part of prioritising the security of electricity services to\nensure essential sectors can operate normally during the recovery\nprocess.<\/p>\n<p>Darmawan added that all electrical parameters in Sumatra\u2019s system are\nnow stable and operating optimally, ensuring continuous power supply for\nthe public.<\/p>\n<p>The mass power outage in Sumatra began at 6:44 PM WIB on Friday, 22\nMay. PLN attributed the blackout to severe weather affecting part of the\nisland\u2019s electricity system.<\/p>\n<p>By 6:00 AM WIB on Sunday, 24 May, PLN had restored 176 affected main\nsubstations. Power supply to customers was gradually restored as part of\nthe normalisation process.<\/p>",
