        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo has\nexpressed readiness to support the decarbonisation of the maritime\nsector, primarily through the provision of electricity for Onshore Power\nSupply (OPS) facilities, which reduces the reliance on diesel\nengines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough OPS, the electricity needs of ships can be met from\nland-based power sources, thereby suppressing the use of diesel engines.\nThis step is part of PLN\u2019s efforts to support the decarbonisation of the\nmaritime sector while encouraging the creation of a greener and more\nsustainable port ecosystem,\u201d Darmawan stated in an official statement\nconfirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Darmawan noted that providing electricity for OPS facilities aligns\nwith President Prabowo Subianto\u2019s \u2018Astacita\u2019 programme, specifically in\ndriving industrial decarbonisation as part of the transformation towards\nsustainable development in the maritime sector through the development\nof Green Ports.<\/p>\n<p>This effort is crucial, he continued, given that the maritime sector\ncontributes to global greenhouse gas emissions, while a significant\nportion of ship emissions in ports originates from the use of diesel\nengines during the berthing process.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the provision of electricity for OPS facilities\ndemonstrates the readiness of PLN\u2019s electrical infrastructure to support\nenergy requirements in port areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a form of SOE synergy in supporting the transformation of\nthe port sector through the use of domestic energy, while simultaneously\nboosting productivity through cost savings for maritime businesses and\noptimising port activities,\u201d said Darting.<\/p>\n<p>The OPS facility at DSN, Tanjung Priok, is the first in Indonesia to\npass the international standard test IEC\/IEEE 80005-3:2025. Its\nreliability was proven through a series of full connection trials last\nJuly, which allowed all ship generators to be turned off while\ndocked.<\/p>\n<p>Through this OPS system, electricity from the PLN grid is distributed\nto ships via conversion facilities that support ship requirements with\nfrequencies of both 50 hertz (Hz) and 60 Hz, enabling the service of two\nto four ships simultaneously.<\/p>",
