        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2014 PT PLN (Persero) has dismissed concerns about a coal\nshortage for steam-powered electricity plants due to adjustments to the\nWork Plan and Budget (RKAB) and production cuts. Rizal Calvary Marimbo,\nPLN\u2019s Director of Generation Management, said the state electricity\ncompany has secured coal supply of 84 million metric tonnes from eight\nmajor suppliers: Adaro Indonesia, Arutmin Indonesia, Berau Coal, Kaltim\nPrima Coal, Kideko Jaya Agung, Multi Harapan Utama, Indominco Harapan\nMandiri, and Bukit Asam.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Total supply to be delivered is around 84 million metric tonnes,\u2019\nRizal told journalists at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources\n(ESDM) in Jakarta on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The situation has raised concerns that the national electricity\nsupply could be threatened with outages. Rizal stressed that coal supply\nfor power plants is in adequate numbers. He said the 84 million tonnes\nfrom eight suppliers is believed to be sufficient until the end of\nAugust 2026. He noted that PLN has secured assignments from the eight\nmain coal suppliers for both PLN and independent power producers\n(IPPs).<\/p>\n<p>\u2018PLN has just secured the assignment certainty to the eight main coal\nsuppliers for PLN and IPP,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<p>Rizal also assessed that the condition of the coal-fired power plants\nreported by APLSI does not necessarily reflect stockpiles. According to\nhim, the Plant Operating Day (HOP, Hari Operasi Pembangkit) should be\nviewed from the stability of the ongoing supply. As long as coal supply\nenters consistently and does not show a significant downward trend,\nplant operations will remain safe.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018If we say HOP of 10 days, that means it is running continuously.\nWhat matters is stability and not a continual decline,\u2019 Rizal said.<\/p>",
