Palembang (ANTARA) - PT PLN Unit Induk Distribusi Sumatera Selatan,
Jambi, dan Bengkulu (UID S2JB) has recorded an 18-fold increase in
electric vehicle charging transactions at Public Electric Vehicle
Charging Stations (SPKLU) over the past five years, driven by the
growing number of electric vehicle (EV) users.

PLN UID S2JB Marketing Strategy Manager Wahyu Hadi Perdana stated in
Palembang on Wednesday that the trend of EV usage continues to show
significant year-on-year growth. In 2020, the number of charging
transactions in the PLN UID S2JB working area was approximately 1,800
per year, or an average of just 150 transactions per month. However, by
2025, transactions have surged dramatically. Within the first four to
five months alone, charging transactions have already reached around
14,000, averaging nearly 3,000 transactions per month.

“Based on the data, from 2020 to 2026 the scale has increased by an
average of 18 times,” he said. In response to this development, PLN is
continuing to expand its support for the EV ecosystem, including through
the development of SPKLU infrastructure across various regions. PLN is
also opening investment and partnership opportunities for businesses and
investors interested in collaborating on SPKLU development through a
business-to-business (B2B) cooperation scheme.

“We are very open to businesses and investors to jointly develop EV
infrastructure. The more EV users there are, the greater the need for
SPKLU will be,” he added. To support the programme, PLN is offering a
discount of up to 50 percent on new home charging installation costs.
Additionally, customers receive a 30 percent electricity tariff
reduction for charging conducted between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Western
Indonesia Time.

These incentives represent PLN’s commitment to strengthening the
national EV ecosystem while supporting the acceleration of a more
environmentally friendly energy transition in South Sumatra, Jambi, and
Bengkulu. “The public who are already using or planning to switch to EVs
need not worry about the availability of charging facilities, as PLN
continues to develop supporting infrastructure and provide various
conveniences for EV users,” Wahyu said.
",
