PT PLN (Persero) Regional Main Unit of East Nusa Tenggara (PLN UIW
NTT) continues to deploy all available resources to accelerate the
recovery of the electricity system following the M7.7 earthquake in the
Flores Sea.

As of 18.30 WITA (17.30 WIB), the electricity restoration progress
shows significant results. Of the 11 affected substations (GI), all of
them, or 100 percent, have been successfully normalised and returned to
operation.

On the distribution network, 2,723 of the 3,478 affected substations
have resumed operation and are supplying electricity to around 441,000
customers.

The successful restoration of transmission lines and substations has
been key for PLN in accelerating the recovery of power supply to various
crucial public facilities. Transport facilities such as airports and
health service facilities in the affected areas are a priority for
PLN.

One of these is Bajawa Regional Hospital, which has been confirmed to
have a reliable electricity supply to support the medical treatment of
earthquake victims and the continuity of services to the public.

The Director of Bajawa Regional Hospital, Heronimus Due, expressed
appreciation for PLN’s preparedness in maintaining the reliability of
the electricity supply. According to him, electricity reliability is
critical for patient safety, particularly for those requiring intensive
care or emergency surgery following the earthquake.

“Thank you to PLN. Since the earthquake occurred until now, the
hospital’s electricity condition has remained under control and stable.
This electricity reliability is crucial for patients in intensive care
(total care) as well as for the smooth running of planned emergency
operations, both for patients with foetal distress and for treating
victims with fractures caused by the earthquake. We have been greatly
helped,” said Heronimus in his statement on Saturday (15/8/2026).

Similar appreciation was also expressed by the hotel and
accommodation sector in the Flores area. The Manager of Blue Ocean
Hotel, Lusiana Isabella Badik, praised the swift action of PLN officers
in maintaining the electricity supply.

“Thank you to all PLN officers for their cooperation. Stay safe and
keep up the spirit for all colleagues in the field,” said Lusiana.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of PLN UIW East Nusa Tenggara, F. Eko
Sulistyono, stressed that all PLN personnel in the field will continue
working until the electricity system is 100 percent recovered.

“The entire PLN team is working non-stop in the field. We are
prioritising the restoration of vital facilities first so that disaster
response and basic services to the public can run normally. Our
commitment is to bring back the electricity supply as quickly and as
safely as possible for the entire community,” Eko asserted.

Currently, the PLN team is continuing to sweep and repair
distribution networks affected by landslides and broken poles. PLN urges
the public to remain calm and alert and to pray that the entire
restoration process runs smoothly.

Official information on the development of the electricity situation
can be monitored through the PLN Mobile application and the PLN Contact
Centre 123.
",
