PT PLN (Persero) is pushing Institut Teknologi PLN (ITPLN) to become
a globally competitive energy transition campus. PLN’s CEO Darmawan
Prasodjo conveyed this during the Halal Bihalal for Eid al-Fitr 1447
Hijriah and the Thanksgiving for ITPLN’s 28th Anniversary on Wednesday
(1/4/2026).

PLN views the increasing age of ITPLN as necessitating a
strengthening of its role as a centre for education and development in
the electricity sector. This step is deemed essential so that ITPLN can
play a larger role in developing sustainable energy and preparing human
resources for the energy sector.

“At this advancing age, may ITPLN further strengthen its role as a
centre for education and development of globally competitive electricity
technology,” said Darmawan in a short message delivered directly to
ITPLN’s Rector, quoted on Thursday (2/4/2026).

According to him, the campus must not only serve as an academic space
but also as the birthplace of the next generation ready to address
energy sector challenges. ITPLN is seen as having a strategic position
in preparing the talents needed amid major changes in the electricity
sector.

Darmawan also hopes that ITPLN continues to maintain its development
direction in line with the vision of becoming an excellent higher
education institution. This focus is considered relevant to the national
energy transition agenda, which is now a major concern in the
electricity sector.

ITPLN Rector Prof Iwa Garniwa welcomes the message from PLN’s CEO as
moral encouragement for the entire academic community. He considers the
trust from PLN must be responded to through measured and consistent
institutional work.

“This is an appreciation as well as a challenge for us. The hopes
from PLN’s CEO must be realised together,” said Iwa.

He invites the entire campus ranks to utilise the momentum of Ramadan
and Eid al-Fitr to strengthen commitment to building the institution.
For ITPLN, strengthening campus quality cannot be separated from work
culture, togetherness, and seriousness in preparing for the next
leap.

In his reflection, Iwa likens ITPLN’s age of 28 years to the
educational phase approaching the end of doctoral or S3 studies. This
analogy is used to emphasise that ITPLN is now in an important phase
towards international standards.

He assesses that the coming year will be a crucial period for ITPLN
to level up. Strengthening academic quality, institutional capacity, and
campus reputation become homework that must be completed.
",
