        "content": "<p>PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Pengatur Beban Jawa, Madura, Bali (UIP2B\nJamali) is carrying out a transformation of its electricity control\nsystem through the modernisation of the Supervisory Control and Data\nAcquisition\u2013Energy Management System (SCADA-EMS). This step is part of\nPLN\u2019s digital transformation to improve the reliability of electricity\nsupply while supporting the acceleration of the national energy\ntransition. PLN UIP2B Jamali General Manager Munawwar Furqan explained\nthat the modernisation was necessary because the SCADA-EMS system used\nsince 2005 has reached its end of life, meaning it no longer receives\nhardware or software support from the manufacturer. \u201cThe needs of the\ncurrent electricity system are increasingly complex. We must be able to\naccommodate load growth, digital operations, and the integration of new\nrenewable energy power plants. Therefore, modernisation is a very\nimportant step,\u201d said Munawwar. One of the main changes is the shift\nfrom a regional control system to a centralised one. All system control\nis now centred at the Main Control Centre in Gandul, Depok, with a\nDisaster Recovery Centre in Ungaran serving as a backup centre, making\noperations more integrated and reliable. The latest generation SCADA-EMS\nis also equipped with various advanced features, such as an Automatic\nDispatch System, Digital Twin, weather-based predictive forecasting\ntools, and enhanced cyber security. This technology allows PLN to\nanticipate disruptions more quickly and supports the increasing\nintegration of renewable energy plants. Munawwar added that the\nmigration process from the old system to the new one was successfully\ncarried out on 3 June 2026 and is now in the parallel operation stage.\nAll stages are being carried out gradually with various risk mitigation\nmeasures to ensure no disruption to the continuity of electricity supply\nto customers. Full implementation is targeted for completion by the end\nof 2026. In addition to technological updates, PLN is also strengthening\nhuman resource competencies through training, certification, and\ncooperation with various international institutions. PLN has also\nconducted benchmarking with power system operators in the United States,\nDenmark, Australia, and Germany to adopt best practices in modern\nelectricity system management. He further stated that going forward, PLN\nwill also begin utilising Machine Learning, Big Data, and Predictive\nAnalytics to support operational planning, load analysis, and faster,\nmore accurate disruption evaluation.<\/p>",
