PT PLN (Persero) is gradually restoring electricity supply across
Java after disruptions triggered rolling blackouts last week. “Starting
yesterday, Sunday, the condition of the electricity system in Java began
to improve, and rolling blackouts were successfully minimised,” said PLN
President Director Darmawan Prasodjo at the State Palace in Jakarta, as
quoted from an official release by the Government Communication Agency
of the Republic of Indonesia on Monday. According to Darmawan, the
supply of primary energy that meets the specifications required by power
plants is now progressively returning to normal. This recovery applies
to both PLN-owned plants and those of its partners or independent power
producers (IPPs). As part of the evaluation of the situation, PLN
affirmed its commitment to carrying out improvements on the upstream
side. Darmawan stated that the company has overhauled the governance of
its primary energy supply chain. Beyond fixing the supply chain, PLN is
also focusing on the reliability of downstream infrastructure. These
corrective measures include strengthening both PLN-owned and partner
power plants. PLN management has also ensured that supervision of the
electricity system continues without pause. All teams have been deployed
to mitigate the potential for similar disruptions in the future. “We are
making an all-out effort 24 hours a day, seven days a week, both in
monitoring and in mapping out all necessary steps,” Darmawan said. For
the electricity disruptions that temporarily affected public activities
last week, Darmawan conveyed a profound apology to all impacted
citizens. “For that reason, once again we apologise profusely for the
inconvenience felt by the public due to last week’s disruption that
caused rolling blackouts,” he stated.
",
