PT PLN (Persero) is expanding the number of public electric vehicle\ncharging stations (SPKLU) at various points along the Eid holiday travel\nroutes for 2026. This measure is intended to anticipate the rising use\nof electric vehicles by the public.<\/p>\n
PLN Chief Executive Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the number of\nholiday travellers using electric vehicles is expected to increase by\napproximately 1.6 times compared to the 2025 Eid holiday period.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe anticipate that some of our fellow citizens who travel for the\nholidays using electric vehicles will increase by about 1.6 times\ncompared to last year\u2019s holiday season,\u201d Darmawan said following the\nopening of the National Energy and Mineral Resources Sector Command Post\nfor Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026,\naccording to Antara.<\/p>\n
To accommodate this increase, PLN is expanding the number of SPKLU by\napproximately 1.8 times compared to the previous year. The objective is\nto enable holiday travellers using electric vehicles to charge more\neasily during their journeys.<\/p>\n
Additionally, PLN is optimising SPKLU along holiday routes by\nconverting some slow charging facilities into ultra-fast charging\ninfrastructure.<\/p>\n
Darmawan further stated that PLN is ensuring the readiness of the\nnational electricity system during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026\nperiod. He noted that primary energy availability from power plants is\nin a secure position, with gas and fuel reserves exceeding nine days of\noperation and coal reserves averaging more than 19 days of\noperation.<\/p>\n
According to him, maintenance of power plants, substations, and\ntransmission networks has been carried out early to minimise potential\nelectricity supply disruptions during the Eid holiday period.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are ensuring the national electricity system is in a ready and\nreliable condition to support public needs during the Ramadan and Eid\nal-Fitr period,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
During the 2025 Eid holiday period, PLN had deployed approximately\n3,529 SPKLU units distributed across around 2,400 locations throughout\nIndonesia. The increase in SPKLU numbers this year is expected to\nfurther facilitate holiday travellers using electric vehicles.<\/p>\n
