PT PLN (Persero) has officially denied rumours regarding an increase in electricity tariffs for the April–June 2026 period. The state-owned utility clarified that current rates remain unchanged as per the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources' regulations.

PT PLN (Persero) has emphasised that there has been no increase in
electricity tariffs for the April–June 2026 period, in accordance with
the regulations set by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources
(ESDM).

“PLN confirms that there is no increase in electricity tariffs,”
stated Gregorius Adi Trianto, Executive Vice President of Corporate
Communications and TJSL at PT PLN (Persero), when contacted in Jakarta
on Tuesday. This statement serves as a response to widespread
information circulating on social media regarding complaints about
rising electricity bills.

Several users on the social media platform X have complained of
electricity bills increasing by up to 100 per cent, accompanied by a
surge in total energy consumption, despite claiming there have been no
changes in usage patterns or the addition of new electronic appliances.
This led to allegations that PLN had raised electricity tariffs.

“PLN always implements electricity tariff policies as determined by
the Government through the Ministry of ESDM. For the April–June 2026
period, electricity tariffs remain fixed and have not changed from the
previous period,” said Greg.

Furthermore, Greg explained that the increase in bills experienced by
some customers may be influenced by changes in electricity consumption
patterns due to factors such as weather conditions, rising temperatures,
and increased household activities. “Increased activity at home leads to
higher daily use of electrical appliances by customers,” he added.

Greg noted that members of the public can independently monitor their
token purchase history and electricity bill payments. This monitoring
can be conducted via the PLN Mobile application to help users understand
and manage their electricity usage more efficiently.

To check usage history through PLN Mobile, users can open the
application and select the ‘Token and Payment’ menu on the main page.
Users can then click the ‘Add Customer ID’ button (if not already
registered), enter their Customer ID, and select ‘Usage History’ for
post-paid customers or ‘Token Purchase History’ for pre-paid
customers.

“PLN also continues to urge customers to use electricity safely and
wisely, including by regularly checking domestic electrical
installations and unplugging unused electronic devices to keep energy
consumption under control,” Greg concluded.
",
