Direktur Utama (Dirut) PT PLN Darmawan Prasodjo revealed that two
large power plants in Java owned by PLN’s partners, or independent power
producers (IPP), recently experienced technical issues. One of the two
plants has now been restored and is supplying electricity back to the
Java grid. Darmawan explained that the supply of primary energy, which
meets the specification requirements of both PLN and private power
plants, began to normalise last week. This is considered to have further
strengthened the resilience of the electricity system in Java. “The
primary energy supply that meets the specification requirements of the
plants, both PLN and those owned by our partners (independent power
producers), started flowing last week and therefore strengthens the
resilience of the electricity system in Java,” Darmawan told reporters
at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday (22/6/2026).
Darmawan stated that on Friday (19/6), two large power plants
experienced technical issues. However, one has since been repaired.
“Then on Friday we reported that two large plants owned by our partners
experienced technical issues and were forced to exit the system. In
response, last week we immediately deployed a PLN team together with our
partners to carry out repairs. And there is good news, last night one
large plant was successfully restored and synchronised with the
electricity system in Java and has begun supplying power to the Java
system,” he said. Darmawan expressed appreciation to the government,
particularly Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia,
for the direction provided. He confirmed that improvements to the
governance of the primary energy supply chain and the reinforcement of
both PLN-owned and partner-owned plants are ongoing. “We are making
all-out efforts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, both in monitoring and
mapping all our efforts so that the reliability improvements of the
electricity system in Java can be maintained and even enhanced,” he
stated. Darmawan apologised to the public for the inconvenience
experienced since last week. He requested the public’s support so that
the repair process can proceed smoothly. “We ask for prayers and support
from the entire community so that our all-out efforts can be facilitated
and run smoothly. And we greatly appreciate the support from the
government and the cohesiveness of all our partners, both suppliers and
power plant partners, so that together we can maintain reliability and
ensure that energy supply going forward can run smoothly,” he said.
",
