        "content": "<p>PT PLN (Persero)\u2019s President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, has once\nagain achieved a milestone by receiving the Green Leadership PROPER\naward at the 2025 PROPER Environmental Awards organised by the Ministry\nof Environment and Forestry.<\/p>\n<p>This marks the third time he has received this accolade, reinforcing\nthe consistency of his leadership in promoting green transformation\nwithin PLN.<\/p>\n<p>Under Darmawan\u2019s guidance, PLN\u2019s environmental performance has shown\npositive results. Throughout 2025, PLN secured 11 Gold PROPER awards and\n35 Green PROPER awards in the environmental management performance\nassessment.<\/p>\n<p>This achievement reflects the company\u2019s success in integrating\nsustainability principles into its business operations.<\/p>\n<p>The award was personally presented by the Minister of Environment and\nForestry\/Head of the Environmental Control Agency, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq,\nwho commended the company leaders for their contributions to promoting\nsustainable business practices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo the company leaders and CEOs, we extend our extraordinary thanks.\nThe compliance efforts you have undertaken contribute seriously to\nbuilding many aspects, from the efficiency of our resources, prevention\nof pollution, and various activities that build the community\u2019s economy\ndirectly or indirectly,\u201d Hanif stated in Jakarta on Tuesday\n(7\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>According to Hanif, PROPER serves as a compass guiding the business\nworld in implementing sustainable business practices based on green\neconomy principles. This awarding ceremony also encourages industrial\nperformance to exceed compliance standards with environmental\nregulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday is certainly a happy day for us all. Those present before me\nare truly figures who provide direction for national environmental\nliving. Once again, thank you,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>On the same occasion, Darmawan Prasodjo expressed gratitude for the\naward given to the company. He emphasised that over the past five years,\nPLN has continuously accelerated the clean energy transition through the\ndevelopment of new renewable energy (EBT), emissions reduction, and\neconomically valuable waste processing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe convey our thanks to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry for\nthe award given. For PLN, PROPER is not merely compliance, but an\nacceleration of transformation. Our commitment is to provide reliable\nelectricity that adds value to the environment and welfare,\u201d Darmawan\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, he stated that PLN will continue to strengthen the\nimplementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)\nprinciples, accelerate the Net Zero Emissions target for 2060, improve\noperational efficiency, and expand community empowerment programmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to promote green technology innovation, global\ncollaboration, and make sustainability a work culture,\u201d he affirmed.<\/p>\n<p>PROPER represents a momentum for transformation from mere compliance\nto leading in the energy transition. Now, PLN\u2019s task is not only to\nprovide reliable electricity but also to ensure that electricity becomes\ncleaner, environmentally friendly, and adds value to community life.<\/p>\n<p>As part of this commitment, PLN continues to implement various\ngreenhouse gas emissions reduction initiatives, from decarbonisation to\nEBT power plant development. From 2021 to 2025, PLN successfully\nincreased the emissions reduction figure from 12.9 million tons of CO2\nto 51.1 million tons of CO2.<\/p>\n<p>The company also recorded progress in new renewable energy\ndevelopment, reaching around 9.4 gigawatts (GW) in 2025. In addition,\nPLN expanded gas-based power plants with production reaching 33.7\nterawatt hours (TWh) in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>As one of the decarbonisation initiatives, since 2023 PLN has\ndeveloped hydrogen by operating Indonesia\u2019s first Green Hydrogen Plant\n(GHP) at the Muara Karang Gas and Steam Power Plant (PLTGU),\nJakarta.<\/p>\n<p>PLN also pioneered the introduction of Southeast Asia\u2019s first GHP\nutilising geothermal energy, located at the Kamojang Geothermal Power\nPlant (PLTP) in West Java in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, excess hydrogen production at PLN power plants, which was\npreviously unused, is being developed into GHPs spread across 22\nlocations throughout Indonesia with a total capacity of 203 tons per\nyear.<\/p>\n<p>In the future, the utilisation of green hydrogen can be further\noptimised as co-firing for Steam Power Plants (PLTU), environmentally\nfriendly transportation fuel, and industrial sector needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is hoped that the initiatives we are running will not only have a\npositive impact on environmental conservation but also provide a\nmultiplier effect by creating jobs, strengthening the local economy, and\nsupporting national infrastructure development,\u201d Darmawan concluded.<\/p>",
