PT PLN Unit Induk Wilayah Papua dan Papua Barat (UIWP2B) has
announced that 1,067 customers across Papua have utilised a 50 per cent
discount on power upgrade costs. The General Manager of PT PLN (Persero)
for the Papua and West Papua region, Roberth Rumsaur, stated in Jayapura
on Sunday that this result allowed PLN to surpass its initial target,
reaching a final achievement of 119 per cent.

“The success in serving 1,067 customers demonstrates that the
community has responded positively to PLN’s steps in providing easier
access to energy,” he said. According to Rumsaur, this reflects a high
level of awareness among the people of Papua regarding the importance of
reliable electrical energy to support daily activities and businesses.
“With this fulfilment of energy sufficiency, we hope there will no
longer be disruptions in the electricity supply due to overloads or
hindered activities caused by power limitations.”

He explained that the power upgrade promotion, themed “MeiLAJU LEBIH
TERANG”, concluded on 2 June, having been launched specifically to
commemorate National Awakening Day. The promotion was aimed at
single-phase customers with initial capacities ranging from 450 VA to
5,500 VA who wished to increase their capacity up to 7,700 VA.

“Currently, the electricity system in Papua itself is in an optimal
condition, where the supply capacity is recorded at 440.5 megawatts
(MW), while the peak load is only 302.5 MW. This means there is a power
reserve of 138 MW, or 31 per cent, which is sufficient to maintain
supply stability,” he said.

He added that despite this, the company urges the public to use
electricity wisely and safely to avoid the risk of short circuits due to
overloading. “With the conclusion of this programme, we are committed to
continuously maintaining the reliability of the energy supply and urge
the community to continue optimising various electricity service
features through the PLN Mobile application,” he concluded.
",
