Please teach me more about Islam<\/p>\n
About nine years ago I (a westerner) became a new born Muslim
\nin Indonesia and I was very proud.<\/p>\n
I married a woman from Purbalingga, West Java. What happened
\nthere before the start of the campaign was very painful for the
\nGolkar Party.<\/p>\n
PDI Perjuangan supporters allegedly ordered female Golkar
\nsupporters to take off their T-shirts. They forgot that their own
\nGolkar Party, under orders from former president Soeharto, had
\nearlier stripped Megawati of her elected position in PDI.<\/p>\n
Golkar and former president Soeharto did as they liked and
\nthey still do so.<\/p>\n
Now, from whom or where can I learn about our Prophet
\nMuhammad's teaching. I have already learned a lot from my wife
\nand good friends about Islam. But can I learn something from the
\nGolkar Party? From former president Soeharto or from his
\nchildren? Even President Habibie? Or from Akbar Tanjung? From
\ntheir alleged money politics?<\/p>\n
Where in the Koran can I learn that their behavior is a good
\nexample? Can I learn in the Koran that our Prophet Muhammad
\nprotects corruption? Can I learn from them how to become a good
\nMuslim?<\/p>\n
Should I learn from the thousands of Golkar supporters in
\nUnjungpandang, whose slogan was: \"Is the predominantly Muslim
\ncountry ready for a female leader?\" Show me where in the Koran I
\ncan read that a woman cannot lead a country!<\/p>\n
Please help me, I'm waiting for an answer to my query. Can I
\nlearn anything from all this? Can all these be the teachings of
\nour Prophet Muhammad? I don't think so, because I know my Koran
\nvery well. But one can continue to learn, it's never too late. I
\nwas 48 years old when I started to learn our Prophet Muhammad's
\nteaching, and I'm happy to be a Muslim. I will find my way to
\nAllah because I learn the Koran from our Prophet Muhammad.<\/p>\n
I appeal to Golkar to go into opposition; take your time for
\nthe next five years to learn about all the mistakes you have
\nmade, then we can enjoy together our Koran and Prophet Muhammad's
\nteachings.<\/p>\n
