Plaza Senayan's
\nparking lot unsafe<\/p>\n

At 4 p.m. on Jan. 12, 2002, I arrived at Plaza Senayan and, as
\nI usually do, looked for a parking spot on the second floor (P2).
\nI found one in a corner for my black Mercedes Benz E320
\nMasterpiece with Bali license plate DK-123-AN. I clearly remember
\ntwo parking officers of Secure Parking standing there.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, when I returned to my car at 6 p.m, I found
\nthat the front window had been smashed in and the sound system
\ntaken. My bag, which contained some documents and a cell phone,
\nwas also gone.<\/p>\n
I lost about Rp 23 million in total from the theft. Three
\nsecurity guards were arguing about who had been on duty when I
\nsaw the condition of my car.<\/p>\n
Finally, two supervisors from Secure Parking approached me and
\napologized, telling me it was due to the parking officers'
\nnegligence. They offered to waive the Rp 3,000 parking fee as
\ncompensation.<\/p>\n
The way they gave their explanation sounded illogical. It was
\njust a fabricated excuse. I immediately left as I thought I would
\nonly be wasting my time.<\/p>\n
What I want to know is why a shopping center like Plaza
\nSenayan cannot guarantee its customers' safety or convenience.
\nWhere is the consumer's right to good service from the management
\nof Plaza Senayan and Secure Parking?<\/p>\n
I therefore call on all visitors to Plaza Senayan,
\nparticularly drivers, to be on alert and watch their vehicles.
\nThey should also exercise control over the security of the plaza.
\nAlthough Secure Parking uses a computerized system in its
\noperations, the reality is that it has yet to give an image of
\nsecurity, as indicated by its name.<\/p>\n
