        "content": "<p>Plastic in the reefs<\/p>\n<p>Diving in Bali is stunning, as everybody says. I experienced<br>\nsome diving in Lembongan, Amed, and found that the experience<br>\nmatched the descriptions of the beauty of diving in Bali. That<br>\nwas a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>The effect of diving touched me personally. I was able to get<br>\nacquainted with many divers, meaning many new friends. My<br>\nenvironmental consciousness also grew. Coral was no longer just<br>\nCousteau programs: It became real. And, just as Cousteau goes<br>\nback for further expeditions, diving became one of the reasons<br>\nwhy Bali is beautiful for me -- even though the diving I did was<br>\nonly of the tourist kind.<\/p>\n<p>Recently I went to dive at Menjangan Island, which had been<br>\nhighly recommended by some diver friends. The experience was<br>\ndifferent from what I had expected: Apart from fish and beautiful<br>\ncoral, the sea was also full of plastic bags, hanging around like<br>\nfish. The plastic bags were dancing poetically but they shouldn't<br>\nhave been there. I was so shocked. I realized that I had also<br>\nexperienced diving among plastic bags in Legian, Bali.
