Plastic and rubber trade fair opens in Singapore<\/p>\n

Singaporean Minister for Trade, Industry and Foreign Affairs
\nRaymond Lim opened on Tuesday the Aseanplas 2002 trade show,
\nSoutheast Asia's leading trade fair for plastics and rubber.<\/p>\n
He said that the four-day Aseanplas, which was hosting 345
\ncompanies from 22 countries, including one from Indonesia, would
\nsee the introduction of new products and innovations into the
\nAsian market.<\/p>\n
"Featuring the latest machinery, services and state of art
\ntechnology this exhibition will be an excellent platform for
\nsuppliers, manufacturers, users and processors in the plastics
\nand rubber industries to network," Lim said in his opening
\nspeech.<\/p>\n
The event is expected to attract between 6,000 and 7,000
\nvisitors.<\/p>\n
Aseanplas is being organized by the Asean Federation of
\nPlastic Industries (AFPI) and Messe Dusseldorf Asia, and
\nsupported by the Singapore Trade Development Board and European
\nCommittee of Machinery Manufacturers for Plastic and Rubber
\nIndustries.<\/p>\n
Bambang Purnomo, marketing manager of PT Yanaprima
\nHastapersada, the only Indonesian company invited to the
\nexhibition, told The Jakarta Post that he hoped his company's
\nparticipation in the trade fair would help boost its sales and
\nimprove its competitive edge.<\/p>\n
Yanaprima produces, among other things, various kinds of
\nplastic bags and heavy-duty plastic pallets, which can be used
\nfor static and dynamic loads of 15 tons. It also produces work
\nfloors for heavy machines and rice storage.<\/p>",
