        "content": "<p>&apos;Plans on waste welcomed&apos;<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The Governor said he would approve any plan to<br>\ncooperate with the city in waste management, as long as it did<br>\nnot burden the city.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant to the city secretary in charge of economic and<br>\ndevelopment affairs, Prawoto S. Danoemihardjo, said the Governor<br>\nwould also approve plans to recycle garbage into building<br>\nmaterials.<\/p>\n<p>He was speaking after a meeting between the governor and a<br>\nprivate foundation for retired soldiers, Yayasan Rehabilitasi<br>\nPrajurit Utama Seroja (Veteran&apos;s Foundation).<\/p>\n<p>The foundation proposes to cooperate with Canada&apos;s Urban<br>\nResources Technologies Incorporation to recycle city garbage.<\/p>\n<p>Surjadi Soedirdja had not made a decision on the proposal,<br>\nPrawoto said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The governor said there should be a serious study before<br>\nstarting garbage recycling cooperations,&quot; Prawoto said after the<br>\nmeeting.<\/p>\n<p>The joint venture would open a recycling factory with the<br>\ncapacity to recycle two million cubic meters of garbage a day in<br>\nPluit, North Jakarta. The Canadian firm&apos;s recycling technology<br>\nwould be used to process garbage into building materials, like<br>\nbricks.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier Surjadi denied any knowledge of plans for a private<br>\nMalaysian firm, Bescorp Industries, to manage city waste.
