The Ministry of Housing and Residential Areas (PKP) has announced\nthat the nomination process for the Self-Help Housing Stimulant\nAssistance (BSPS) programme is now open as widely as possible. Speaking\nat a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday, Fitrah Nur, Director\nGeneral of Residential Areas at the PKP Ministry, stated that the\nmechanism now begins with an expanded nomination phase. \u2018If we look at\nthe mechanism, it starts with the nomination. This nomination is now\nopened as widely as possible,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
Fitrah explained that previously, only members of the House of\nRepresentatives and regional heads could nominate beneficiaries. Now,\nnominations are open to lawmakers, regional heads, community leaders,\nheads of mass organisations and non-governmental organisations. \u2018That is\nwhy we are now opening all channels so that all members of the public\ncan make nominations without any restrictions,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n
The ministry is currently studying a mechanism to allow members of\nthe public to nominate themselves directly. \u2018We are currently trying to\nfigure out whether the public can nominate themselves. We are thinking\nabout the mechanism, because if it is not prepared properly, there is a\nbacklog of 26.9 million uninhabitable homes,\u2019 Fitrah stated.<\/p>\n
He noted that nominations must now be submitted through the Housing\nAssistance Information System (SIBARU), ending the previous practice of\nregional heads submitting physical proposal documents. \u2018Those nominating\nmust enter the system, it is called the Housing Assistance Information\nSystem (SIBARU),\u2019 he said. An initial verification will be conducted\ndigitally with assistance from the Data and Information Centre\n(Pusdatin), checking the national identity numbers (NIK) as many\nduplicate NIKs have been discovered. \u2018There are also many unscrupulous\nnominations, such as individuals who have previously received BSPS being\nnominated again,\u2019 Fitrah said.<\/p>\n
After passing the initial verification, the process moves to a\nverification instruction at the Housing and Residential Area Provision\nImplementing Centres (Balai), which execute the programme. \u2018Because the\nimplementation is at the Balai. So the BSPS budget is entirely\ndistributed to the Balai,\u2019 he explained. The PKP Ministry oversees 19\nimplementing centres and 38 working units.<\/p>\n
