        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Secretary General of the National Awakening Party\n(PKB) Central Executive Board, Hasanuddin Wahid, known as Cak Udin, has\nemphasised that artificial intelligence (AI) is a tool created by\nhumans, whereas religion is a teaching sourced from God. \u201cAI can provide\ncomprehensive references and data. But AI remains merely a tool. AI will\nnever be able to replace the role of the people\u2019s teachers, the nation\u2019s\nteachers, or the teachers who guide the community through exemplary\nconduct and chains of scholarly transmission,\u201d Cak Udin stated at the\nPKB Central Office in Jakarta on Wednesday. The remarks were made during\na public discussion titled \u201cThe Meeting Space of AI and Religion:\nWelcoming the Future of Religious Life in the Artificial Intelligence\nEra,\u201d held as part of the PKB\u2019s 28th anniversary commemorations.\nAccording to him, the development of AI has elicited various responses\nfrom the public and religious figures. Some see AI beginning to take\nover certain functions traditionally performed by religious leaders,\nwhile others reject its use entirely, believing AI lacks a spiritual\ndimension and cannot replace the teacher-student relationship within the\nIslamic scholarly tradition. \u201cThis phenomenon is a collective challenge\nin formulating religion\u2019s stance towards AI and how AI can be utilised\nresponsibly in religious life,\u201d he said. He also revealed that AI has\nnow entered the pesantren environment. He cited an example of a student\nwho challenged a kiai\u2019s explanation by referencing kitab sources\nobtained through AI, presented in a more systematic manner. Cak Udin\nnoted this phenomenon raises at least three major challenges. The first\nis the challenge to religious authority. The development of AI raises\nquestions about whether authority over religious knowledge will remain\nunder the guidance of ulama and kiai or shift to machines capable of\npresenting information instantly. The second challenge concerns ethics\nand the essence of humanity. Although AI is a human creation, this\ntechnological development has the potential to influence how humans view\nethics, spirituality, and human relations. The public discussion\nfeatured various speakers from diverse backgrounds to comprehensively\naddress the relationship between AI and religion, including House of\nRepresentatives Commission I member H.
