PKB may freeze East Java branch<\/p>\n
SIDOARJO, East Java: The National Awakening Party (PKB) said
\non Sunday it would freeze the leadership board of its East Java
\nbranch for defying the party's new central board.<\/p>\n
\"We will take this move because the current leadership of the
\nPKB's East Java branch operates on its own,\" PKB chief patron and
\nformer president Abdurrahman \"Gus Dur\" Wahid said in Sidoarjo
\nregency, East Java.<\/p>\n
He repeated the PKB's threat to dismiss any party member who
\nopposed the party's central board, led by House of
\nRepresentatives Deputy Speaker Muhaimin Iskandar.<\/p>\n
Gus Dur mentioned Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare
\nAlwi Shihab, State Minister for the Development of Disadvantaged
\nRegions Saifullah Yusuf, the head of East Java's PKB branch,
\nChoirul Anam, and the branch's deputy head, Fathorassjid, as
\namong those members facing dismissal.<\/p>\n
Gus Dur said that before making any move, the central board
\nwould issue party members a third warning letter to recognize the
\nleadership of Muhaimin, who was elected to the PKB's top post
\nduring last month's national congress in Semarang, Central Java.<\/p>\n
Muhaimin said these final warning letters would be sent on
