        "content": "<p>The Bantul Police have announced that traffic flow at the Piyungan\nthree-way junction in Bantul, previously subject to a stop-and-go system\ndue to rigid concrete installation, has been reopened. The reopening of\nthe route towards the Gunungkidul beach tourist area is temporary,\nintended to anticipate traffic congestion during the school holidays.\n\u201cAll lanes at the Piyungan three-way junction can now be used by\nvehicles without any further blockades,\u201d said Bantul Police Head of\nPublic Relations, First Inspector Rita Hidayanto, to reporters on\nTuesday (30\/6\/2026). The route will be open from today until 15 July\n2026. After that date, the police will re-implement the stop-and-go\nsystem. \u201cHowever, after 15 July 2025, repairs will recommence with road\nconstruction on the northern side,\u201d she stated. Regarding the reason for\nfully opening the route, Rita explained it was to anticipate the recent\nsurge in vehicle volume, considering the school holiday period has begun\nand Yogyakarta is a favourite tourist destination. \u201cThe reason for\nreturning to normal operations is considering the current school holiday\nseason, to prevent traffic jams,\u201d she said. It was previously reported\nthat the Patuk Police had prepared traffic engineering measures ahead of\nrepairs on the Jogja-Wonosari road, specifically at the Piyungan\nthree-way junction in Bantul. However, this traffic management would be\nsituational. Patuk Police Head of Public Relations, Chief Police Officer\nPurwanto, stated that the Piyungan three-way junction would undergo\nrepairs from Monday (8\/6\/2026) to Friday (31\/7\/2026). The repairs\ninvolve the installation of rigid concrete, causing the lanes around the\njunction to narrow. \u201cWith the repairs at the Piyungan three-way\njunction, it automatically impacts traffic flow in Patuk, as the\nJogja-Wonosari road is a main route,\u201d he said when contacted by\ndetikJogja on Friday (5\/6\/2026).
