The\nstatement was made by Serian in response to the press on the sidelines\nof the \u2018Dialogue among Civilizations for World Peace\u2019 forum\n(International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations), organised by the\nIndonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and the Parliamentary Caucus for World\nPeace of the Indonesian House of Representatives and Regional\nRepresentatives Council at the Nusantara V Building, Parliament Complex,\nSenayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (10\/6\/2026). This strategic meeting was\ndesigned as a platform for cross-sector and religious leaders to\nformulate a message of global peace, strengthen engagement between the\ngovernment and civil society, and promote the principle of religious\nmoderation (wasathiyyah Islam) amid global geopolitical tensions. This\ndialogue, he said, is a crucial momentum to prove that differences in\nculture, ethnicity, and religion are not dividers, but strengths for\nbuilding a peaceful civilisation. \u2018Through the principle of wasathiyyah\nIslam or moderation, we can erode extremism and build strong\ncommunication bridges within the global community,\u2019 said Serian. The\nevent was attended by national and international figures, including\nDeputy Speaker of the People\u2019s Consultative Assembly Hidayat Nurwahid,\nDeputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta, MUI leader Anwar Abas, Chairman of\nthe Parliamentary Caucus for World Peace Ahmad Doli Kurnia, leaders of\nreligious mass organisations, as well as ambassadors, representatives of\nfriendly nations, and representatives of the United Nations.
