The\npilot, identified as a 66-year-old Beijing resident surnamed Liu, was a\nfreelancer who was divorced and lived alone. \u201cLiu had long suffered from\ninsomnia and anxiety. Expressions such as \u2018ending his life\u2019 were found\nmultiple times in his diary,\u201d the district government stated on its\nsocial media page. According to the investigation, the aircraft was a\nsingle-engine light sport plane, an Arora SA60L with registration number\nB-12PP, carrying two seats. Liu obtained his sport pilot licence in 2021\nand a private pilot licence in 2024. \u201cDuring a solo flight, the aircraft\ndeviated from the designated area and lost contact with the airport. It\nsubsequently crashed into a high-rise building, and Liu died at the\nscene,\u201d the statement said. Local authorities immediately launched an\ninvestigation and response after receiving the accident report.
