We decided to perform the haj pilgrimage this year (1995) and
\nwe fulfilled all the requirements, including paying for the
\npilgrimage through BRI bank, in Demak, Central Java.<\/p>\n
But an uncle died prior to our departure, which prevented his
\nwife from going as she was still in mourning. We immediately
\ninformed BRI of the cancellation and at the same time requested a
\nrefund. We were told that the money had been sent to Jakarta and
\nwe had to wait three months after the pilgrims returned to
\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
Up to August (eight months had already passed), we still did
\nnot know when exactly we would receive the money. We contacted
\nthe Social Development Bureau in Central Java only to be told
\nthat the documents had just been sent to Jakarta, and they asked
\nus to be patient. We wondered what had happened to the documents
\nthat we submitted in January.<\/p>\n
We would like to direct our question to the Directorate
\nGeneral of Haj Affairs, Department of Religious Affairs, as to
\nwhen we can expect to get our money back. Should we wait for it
\nfor years? Or has our hard-earned money gone just like that?<\/p>\n
